Traffic Control / Flagger
Job Posting: Flagger/ Traffic Controller
Job Summary: The Flagger/ Traffic Controller will be responsible for placing, maintaining, and removing traffic control operations.
Responsibilities: As a Flagger/Traffic Controller, you will be responsible for various road closures and the safety of those passing by. In this job, you will learn how to close off a road using cones and barricades and be responsible for two-way flagging. Two-way flagging involves using a stop & slow sign to allow traffic to pass work zones safely.

The hourly wage for candidates is $20 - $22.00/hr . The final salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to the type and years of experience within the job type and industry, education, etc.
Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively communicate in English (written and verbal) with customers, and the public.
- Proficient in traffic control setups using MUTCD and or CATTCH methods.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Maintain a positive work environment.
Equipment:
- Vehicles (Trucks/Cars) of various sizes
- Flatbed trucks
- Trailer-mounted warning signs (CMS, FAS)
- Cones, delineators, drums, barricades, signs, and various other traffic control equipment
- Essential Physical Requirements & Work
Environment:
- Requires standing for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to perform a full deep squat.
- Full range of motion of arms and legs.
- Requires lifting and carrying up to 50lb from floor to chest level, carrying horizontally for 25ft.
- Requires lifting and carrying up to 25lb from floor to shoulder level, carrying horizontally for 25ft.
- Requires using hands to handle, control, or lift objects with a strong grip.
- Requires the ability to raise the arms over the shoulders to lift and place objects of up to 50lbs, carrying horizontally for 25ft..
- Requires being outside and exposed to environmental conditions.
- Requires being in a construction environment.
- Requires repetitive movement.
- Requires bending at the elbows, knees, hips, and bending forward.
- Exposure to work near moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, and vehicular traffic.
- Exposure to reasonable noise levels.
- Must be able to be aware of surroundings and perform essential job functions.
- Ability to drive a vehicle in an alert manner with no conditions that may affect this.
Education and Experience:
- Must have a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years
- Must be willing to use personal truck (all Gas will be covered when on job or in transit to and or from. $25/day added to check for use of personal vehicle
- No Type A violations within 3 years.
- No more than 1 moving violation within 3 years.
Essential Duties:
- Respond to Dispatch within no later than 90 minutes if between the hours of 8am and 5pm, and no later than the next day if after 5pm.
- Maintain contact with Dispatcher on and off the job.
- Maintain all equipment in a safe and working condition.
- Perform pre-job inspection safety assessment (JSA).
- Perform Direct Vehicle Inspection report (DVIR) and submit to management or dispatch daily
- Perform Inventory and inspect equipment on truck needed for the job.
- Load all required equipment and PPE into the vehicle.
- Safely drive from the office to the job site and back utilizing safe driving techniques.
- Flagging of traffic to ensure a safe work zone for all customers and the public.
- Coordinating with the customer and/or dispatch ensuring safe, efficient, and problem-free closures.
- Completing required paperwork, receipts, and timesheets on or before mandatory deadlines.
- Report all unsafe conditions to the supervisor as soon as possible.
- Provide a safe work zone for customers and the public by being aware of them and your surroundings and refraining from being in the vehicle or on the phone unless on a break.
